Wedding Photography in West Yorkshire can be Wet & Wonderful
It may have poured with rain for every part of the day, but this couple had more than enough sunshine for all of us.
We knew it was going to be a soggy West Yorkshire Wedding, when.... Tracey, the Bride and I were texting each other with the ever more depressing weather forecast on the day before the wedding. We put a brave face on it, and I knew that John & Tracey were not the kind of couple to let a wet day rain on their parade.
I arrived early at Halifax Registry Office to make sure that the wet weather contingency plan would hold up. We had met there about a month before the big day to check out all the best spots. Before long, the boys arrived looking a little nervous but very handsome. Here's John with Tracey's Son's (and expert page boys) Matthew and Harrison.
All the guests were taking shelter inside, when Tracey arrived accompanied by her lovely Bridesmaids; Emma Farrer & Bethan Farrer.
Tracey was not phased by the rain and looked beautiful and relaxed.
Tracey and John were clear from the start that their special day would be a relaxed and fun affair and was all about sharing their love with the people that mattered most to them. This could be felt, from the moment that the service began. John's Bestman was his son, Matthew Farrer. Before the service, Matthew stood up and spoke to the guests about a beautiful piece of music that was really important to John & Tracey and asked them to listen as Tracey arrived.
The marriage was witnessed by Emma & Connor, who were the most amazing wedding guests / come super helpers/organisers. Every Wedding should have an Emma & a Connor. They were always there, quietly in the background, holding Tracey's gorgeous dress out of the puddles, holding an umbrella, taking care of Bethan or rounding up cards and gifts. I know that Emma won't want her picture adding here, but I could be persuaded!
When the Ceremony was finished, the registrar was really great by allowing us to use the room for a few minutes afterwards to take some of the family group photographs in the dry. Then it was off to The Roundhill in Rastrick to celebrate.
When we arrived at the Roundhill we were looked after by wonderful hosts, Kirsty & Paul, with great service and a buffet with what seemed like an everlasting supply of food. This was nothing compared to the amazing array of desserts that just kept coming. There was a gorgeous Cake, lovingly made by Tracey Matthews.
We braved the weather, with some wellies and a brolly for just a few shots. I was glad that none of the guests came with us, to see me laid full length in a puddle, but it was worth it.
Then it was time to wave the family off on their honeymoon to a decidedly sunnier Scarborough and a luxury hot tub.
When I first met John & Tracey, They were referred by a mutual friend. I chatted to them on the phone, and called around for a cuppa and a chat about their big day and we clicked instantly. It was lovely when they brought Matthew, Harrison & Bethan in to my Studio at home for a family photoshoot in the run up to the wedding and it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other better. We then met again, to walk through wedding shots at their venues and this meant that the kids were able to be themselves in front of the camera on the wedding day. I am honoured to say that I now consider them friends and I look forward to watching the family grow up together in a house full of love.
Stay tuned for the next Farrer photoshoot. To be continued......................
