Cathy & Heathcliffe have got nothing on these two. This is one of the greatest love stories ever told.

I knew from the moment that I met Alex & Josh that I was going to love photographing their wedding. They are lovely and warm and welcoming (and Josh made a good cup of tea). Add to that the fact that they were getting married at one of my favourite wedding venues, the Saddleworth Hotel and we had a recipe for success.
Alex & Josh have been together since they were 15 years old when they were introduced by their groomsman Wraffy. Anyone can see that they're an awesome team. They certainly got the amazing day that they deserved, with great friends and glorious weather.
I arrived at Alex's parent's house to find hair & make up was well underway, I was greeted at the door by Jess, one of Alex & Josh's closest friends, who would later perform a really touching reading at the ceremony. Although they didn't know each other, the hairstylist & make up artist were working together as a formidable team making sure the girls were at their best.
Alex's 3 bridesmaids, Ami, Sophie & Hayley were looking gorgeous, having finishing touches to make up whilst Alex had her hair done. There was great music playing, a bit of group singing and a few bubbles, it was a lovely party atmosphere with mum & dad pouring bubbly and tending to shoes, jewellery & dresses.
The bridesmaids went off to get into their dresses - sometimes a photographer has to know what is a photo opportunity and when to put the camera down & help with zips & shoes. Everyone was keen to help Alex into her stunning gown. This is always the most nerve wracking part of the day for the bride - it all starts to feel very real and exciting. Alex's dad waited patiently in the kitchen for the big reveal. It's a very special moment when a father see's his daughter for the first time in her Wedding dress.
Time for a few pictures of everyone in their finery and then off to the Saddleworth hotel to meet up with the boys. Josh was looking relaxed chatting with his best man Rich, whom he met at university. Josh was also attended by his friend Nick and Josh (Wraffy). They looked very handsome, dressed in Black tie, a look that certainly fitted well with the Aston Martin that had been hired for Josh.
The theme for the wedding was "Great Loves Stories" with every guest receiving a gift of great literature and each table named after a different great love story, with the greatest of all the love stories reserved for the top table.
The Saddleworth Hotel, where do I begin? These guys are professionals. It's a lovely personal touch to see like Anthony & his wife Sandi collecting the girls in the Wedding cars. Scott & Daniella had spent lots of time with Alex & Josh to make sure that everything ran smoothly on the day. The food looked (& tasted) amazing and was delivered to each table so swiftly by a really slick team of silver service waiting staff. There are so many amazing places to take fabulous bridal portraits, from the woods, to the gazebo and views over the moors that you'll definitely run out of steam before you run out of locations.
The flowers were stunning, I could hear everyone commenting on the "wow" table decorations and the gorgeous colours in Alex's bouquet look fantastic on the photographs.
The whole day was wonderful with some very touching speeches from Dave (Alex's dad), Rich (bestman) & of course Josh. Each of them stood up and spoke from the heart, (without notes), about the great love story of Alex & Josh and how it had endured them growing up together and completing university.
This was a great wedding and I felt honoured to be part of it. I went home late that night, with sore feet but a warm heart.
(I'm honoured to have been booked to photograph Sophie (Bridesmaid) & Joshua's (Groomsman) wedding in the future, so can't wait to do it all again).
